Chrome ready for Browser Ballot Showdown
The balance of power in browser wars is about to shift, thanks to European Union’s antitrust concerns that made Microsoft include a browser ballot screen to enable Internet Explorer’s uninstall and the choice of a competing browser during the installation of Windows 7.
Google knows what’s at stake, and started a soft marketing campaign to address the main hurdle Microsoft’s competitors have to face: most computer users don’t know what a browser is!
In fact having Internet Explorer as default pre-installed browser in all Windows PCs made most computer users unaware of existing alternatives that are popular only among internet savvy users.
To help everybody understand what a browser is, Google made a very simple and user friendly website: whatbrowser.org.
If you are one of those who don’t know what a web browser is, just check the one minute video below.
