Google Suggest can read your mind
I have never been a fan of Google Suggest or autocomplete features in software in general, but often I’m enjoying Searchcowboys’ Daily Search Pic(k): Google Suggest is used as a funny way of showing stereotypes about different nationalities in Europe, based on keyword search volumes.
Google Suggest is experimenting the integration of new features that try to guess what you are typing and answer the query before serving a Search Engine Result Page. Queries that are interpreted as “navigational” can have a direct link to the website as the first result of the suggestion list.

Playing with Google Suggest I found that some useful Search Features are already integrated: You can get time or weather information about London, for instance.

Or stock quotes just by entering a ticker symbol:

Interestingly enough you can’t get instant unit or currency conversions, you will get a link to Google Pack right below the search box instead.

I couldn’t find any PPC ads yet, probably Google is still testing Adwords results in Google Suggest, but I think that ads could have a really high CTR in Google Suggest and be very profitable for Google.
Search engines in 2009 have found many ways of giving information directly in the SERP, using detailed Entity Cards on Bing or Google Real Time Twitter feeds for instance. Google Suggest goes one step ahead by providing answers even before we hit the search (or “I’m feeling lucky”) button, also integrating web history to give personalized suggestions.
