SEO Link Building Tool for Competitor Analysis
There’s an old Chinese proverb about SEO: Know your foe and know yourself: In a hundred SERPs you will never know defeat.
Well, I admit it isn’t really about SEO and SERPs, but the truth is that if you understand the strengths and weaknesses of your website, know your industry and identify what your competitors are doing well, their goals, their strategies, successes and failures, you can be one step ahead of them and turn threats into opportunities.
Analyzing link building strategies and backlink profiles is just one of the activities carried out in an SEO competitor analysis. You might want to find out what kind of links your competitor is receiving, and try to obtain the same kind of links or links from the same authoritative websites when it’s possible. You could also want to see what anchor text is used by the sites linking to you, and eventually contact webmasters in order to optimize them, unless you have pages you want to rank for “click here” and “this website”.
Link Diagnosis free SEO tool
Yahoo Site Explorer shows a list of inlinks for a site you want to analyze, but in order to see anchor texts, you need to open each page linking to the website in a browser window.
Other online tools use Yahoo Site Explorer to determine a website’s link popularity and link quality, extracting useful information about the link page authority, but it’s hard to find free link building tools that show anchor texts. Link Diagnosis does, and tells you if the links are followed, how many other links are in the page and other useful information.
Link Diagnosis filters out all low quality links and lets you export the report in .csv format. I found sorting out links by Anchor Text very useful, but also being able to see the number of outbound links in a page helps in understanding the value of a backlink.
