Make YouTube More Social
YouTube is an amazing place as you can literally find videos on anything. But one of the things I have not been a fan about was the lack of social feature as it was quite hard to share videos. However Google has made the website more social media friendly over the last few months. So what are the ways you can share content on the video broadcasting platform?
If you watch a video, you can share it on Facebook, Twitter and other services as you have buttons just below the video that will create a pop up of the relevant service. However it gets really interesting if you have a Google account and then by definition a YouTube account. You can then use the Autoshare function to automatically share videos on Google Reader, Facebook and Twitter, for example when you favourite or upload a video.
Nevertheless, I feel YouTube should make it easier for Blogger to have access to its content. Of course you can embed videos in a blog post, use services like Apture or Zemanta to find and embed them directly into the content you are creating or even have a widget to display videos based on keyword research or videos of any channel. But there is nothing neat or straightforward on how to put your YouTube channel on your website or blog. You have these indications from Google, but there is no official widget or anything ready to use. It is a shame and let us hope it is not going to last.
