Ebook Wars update: Nook enters the fray
Nook is the new ereader by Barnes & Noble and it seems it has what it takes to dominate the ebook market: A beautiful color touch screen interface below the E-Ink display, which is used to tap on the cover of the book you want to read may seem the best feature of the Nook, but personally I think Nook’s killer feature is the ability to lend ebooks to friends for free.
Amazon isn’t resting on its laurels and launched an international version of the Kindle in more than 100 countries with a price cut for the best selling ereader (now priced at $259 in the US and the rest of the world). A Kindle for PC application is coming soon to introduce the Kindle to PC users and consolidate Amazon’s dominant position in the e-book reader market before the holiday shopping season arrives.
Media tycoon Rupert Murdoch is rumored to have visited Japan and South Korea to talk with potential partners in the promising ebook business. Among them is LG, who recently announced a new Solar Cell e-Book reader.
